Continuing on with our “Smoked Beer Week” this lovely Wednesday, we go to the home state of the ever-controversial Sarah Palin. Thank God this beer is ten times better than hearing her voice… After all we are talking about a smoked beer that seems to win awards year after year in this category. And I can see why, too! This has a very nice balance of smoke and rich malts that make this more of a porter than a smoked beer. I’m not going to lie, if there is too much smoke I get turned off right away. That is simply not the case with the Alaskan Smoked Porter. Sent directly from the brewery itself, this was a real treat for me to review since I’m not able to pick this one up anywhere near the Kansas City market. As coincidence would have it, too, I was also able to trade for a bottle at about the same time. So I now have another bottle that will most certainly hang on my shelves until fall roles around.
Check out all sessions of The Hopry here.

Can you imagine a debate between Palin and Fran Drescher?

No. But the thought does make me appreciate Fran Drescher a bit more.

i’m digging the soundcloud music streams…. bout time somebody involved craft music with craft beer…. maybe a review with a little wilco to compliment the wilco tango foxtrot from lagunitas in the future???? i have always been intrested in the correlation between music and beer…i have noticed people who prefer mainstream music of any of the (3 basic genre’s) typically prefer macro mass produced beer… and that’s fine …. to each his own… the people i know who prefer beer u can’t find at a gas station tend to prefer music your not likely to hear on top 40 radio…. i have always found that interesting….

The reality for me is that I could do without beer if I had to, but there is no way in hell I could do without music. It’s like air to me… I had pondered whether or not I should incorporate music in the site when I first started. I began by just putting links to music, but I just recently decided to add actual music clips so that people could actually hear the music I like. And maybe even hear something they haven’t heard before. BTW, Wilco is one of my favorite bands…
