Three Floyds out of Munster, Indiana is easily one of the most well-recognized craft breweries in the Midwest. Just about every beer they make is an enjoyable experience to drink. One of the elements that I personally enjoy the most, however, is the label artwork and bottle caps they make to adorn their creations. Furthermore, this particular beer called Moloko Plus is one of my favorites. If you’ve seen the Moloko Milk Bar scene (NSFW) from the famous Stanley Kubrick movie A Clockwork Orange, then you know why I think it’s so great. But let’s talk about the beer. As it starts flooding the glass it appears to be pretty standard fare. The nose is full of the lactose sugar and malts that are characteristic of a stout, but it’s met with a very nice (and balanced) perfume of caramel and vanilla. Really it just smells “milky.” On the palate, Moloko Plus is not as robust as I thought it might be, considering how much Three Floyds tends to push the envelope with flavor. The sweetness is definitely there and the malts and coffee components come through in subtle amounts. While not the best example of a milk stout on the market, it’s still an enjoyable beer – if for no other reason than to have this bad-ass bottle to keep afterwords. Up next: Southern Tier Crème Brûlée

The Shining would have to be my favorite…….But really you can’t go wrong with any of his movies.

That is definitely a great movie. I find it interesting, too, that Kubrick only filmed his movies in 4 x 3 (full-screen). He wanted to be able to see the floor and ceiling in his shots. That movie specifically highlights this aspect of his movies. I always preferred the 16 x 9 (widescreen), but hey…who am I?

That Moloko label is excellent. I can picture Alex DeLarge putting a few of those away then nipping out for some ultra violence.
As for Kubrick, it’s got to be 2001, though Dr. Strangelove is a close second. But really, which other director could produce movies on such varying subjects, and of such differing styles, and be as masterly in all of them. There’s Fellini, Lynch and Kurosawa but none of them made anything as diverse as Kubrick’s works. Maybe Scorsese, but even he looks pigeon-holed when compared to Kubrick.

A couple cases of Creme Brulee? Damn!
Anyway, _Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb_ is far and away my favorite film of Kubrick’s. _2001: A Space Odyssey_ would probably come in second.

One is for my wife and me, and the others is for my mother/father-in-law. They live for that stuff.

Eyes Wide Shut – hell yea. Love Shostakovich’s Jazz Suite in that one. Had a Moloko aged 2 years on my once-every-three-month trip to Warrensburg MO. Can’ wait to try the new release this fall.
