Ithaca Flower Power IPA

Session # 193
Ithaca | Flower Power IPA
American IPA | Ithaca, NY | 7.5% ABV

One year ago: Dark Horse Too

Thanks to Big Mike for offering this one up for the show. It’s the Ithaca Flower Power IPA, which many claim to be one of the best IPAs to come from the east coast. It certainly poured into the glass more like a west coast IPA with its warm yellowish-orange color and off-white head. My nose easily picked up the citrus (tangerine), grapefruit, and herbs. On the palate, there were wonderful notes of herbal and grassy hops with citrus and pine to finish it all. Overall, this was an enjoyable and easy-drinking IPA. I’d say get it if you can, but chances are if you can get it you’ve already had it.

This beer can be found in these states.

    Great review Mark!
I figured you’d like this one. It’s not an earth shattering IPA or a “game changer” but it’s really solid. And like you mentioned it kind of stands out amongst the other IPA’s out there. It’s hard to find IPA’s from the east that have that fresh tasting brightness like the west coast beers do but this come close. Thanks for the shout out and for putting this one on the show. I’m glad you liked it.

    Peace,

    Big Mike

  2. I don’t see how anyone could make fun of the flower. With a beard like that, you could wear a sundress and do the entire review in the voice of a southern belle and it would still be manly.

Sounds like you were sent a bottle of Voodoo’s Big Black Voodoo Daddy? You have to review that one. It is incredible! Has the best aroma and flavor to match. Easily top 5 stouts on my list. Had a Flower Power the other night. It is a beer I almost always have on hand.
