About

Hello everybody, my name is Mark Starr. I live in Kansas City and in my spare time I like to drink good craft beer. With The Hopry, I have one simple goal in mind and that is to interact with other craft beer enthusiasts who share the same passion for beer and the breweries who make them. I do not claim to be a master of beer, and occasionally I may share information that is (unintentionally) inaccurate. You’ll notice that my video reviews are shot in one continuous take. In most cases, though, I will have done a good deal of homework on these beers and will do my best to give you the information needed to locate them and learn more about them yourselves.

Without a doubt, sharing as many different styles of beer as possible is also a goal. One should always try to broaden their horizon as much as possible, and God knows there is enough beer out there to drink yourself into oblivion. So please don’t try a particular style of beer, dislike it immediately, and never try it again. Many beers can be challenging, but usually grow exponentially better with each new sip. I’ve heard many stories of people who grow to love a particular style based on just trying to approach it with an open mind. And oh what a joyride it will be along the way…

In terms of the format of this site, the primary medium is video. I have always said that the best way to share a beer is to just bust the cap and dig in. I also highly suggest finding the beer that is being reviewed and drink it along with me. Most of the time I will be reviewing these beers solo , so it would be nice to know someone is drinking along with me somewhere in the world. And feel free to leave me a comment on any one of the videos. I will do my best to respond to every one of them as time will allow. Discussions are always welcome!

If you need to contact me offline to make suggestions about this site or simply want to send me a beer to review, I can be reached via e-mail at: thehopry@yahoo.com. Thank you for reading and continuing to watch. I look forward to sharing some great beers with you.

Cheers!
Mark Starr
